Director of Flight Operations
Captain Viliame "Vili" Lomaloma serves as Director of Flight Operations for Inter Island Airways (Fiji) Limited. As a seasoned Captain and leader with more than 25 years in aviation and airline flight operations with various South Pacific based airlines, Lomaloma is responsible for managing day-to-day flight crew scheduling, training and flight operations control including regulatory compliance with the Fiji Civil Aviation Authority (CAAF).
Lomaloma currently serves as Director of Operations for Inter Island Airways (American Samoa). In his tenure, Lomaloma transitioned the airline from commuter to transport category aircraft (30 seater Dornier 328) while continuing to operate 19 seater Dornier 228's. Lomaloma is responsible for managing flight crew, scheduling, ground handling operations, and flight operations. Lomaloma is the single point of contact for regulatory compliance with the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and one of three company individuals with operational control of the airline. As the company Check Airman and Ground/Flight instructor, Lomaloma is responsible for training all flight crew personnel. Lomaloma continues to fly as Captain for the Dornier 228 and 328 while serving as Director of Operations.
Prior to Inter Island Airways (American Samoa), Lomaloma served with Samoa Air as Captain for DH6 Twin-Otter flying between American Samoa, Samoa and Tonga. Prior to Samoa Air, Lomaloma served with Royal Tongan Airlines as Captain for DH6 Twin-Otter aircraft flying routes between Tonga, Samoa, Niue and Fiji. Prior to Royal Tongan Airlines, Lomaloma served with Polynesian Airlines as Captain for DH6 Twin-Otter and First Officer for Boeing 737 and Boeing 767 flying routes between Tonga, Fiji, Niue, Samoa, American Samoa, Rarotonga, New Zealand and Australia. Prior to Polynesian Airlines, Lomaloma served with Air Fiji as Captain for DH6 Twin-Otter, Heron and BN2 flying all Fiji domestic routes. Prior to Air Fiji, Lomaloma served with Sunflower Airlines as Captain for DH6 Twin-Otter, Heron and BN2 flying Fiji domestic routes.
With over 15,900 hours flight time as Pilot in Command and Captain flying Dornier 328, Dornier 228 and DH6 Twin-Otter aircraft, and as Second in Command and First Officer for Boeing 737 and Boeing 767 Jet aircraft operating in the South Pacific area, Lomaloma's distinguished career as an aviator notes him as one of the first six native Fijians to received a commercial pilots license. Lomaloma received his flight training at CAE (Toronto, Canada), Air Caledonia (England), Air Canada, and ANZET (Australia) with type ratings on Boeing 737, Boeing 767, Dornier 228 and Dornier 328. Lomaloma holds ATP AMEL's under US FAA and Fiji CAA, as well as a New Zealand commercial and instrument rating.
